Biography
Dr. Spencer is a native of Boise Idaho. He is a graduate of Borah High School and attended Brigham Young University for his undergraduate training. Dr. Spencer attended Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine, where he received his Doctor of Medical Dentistry (D.M.D.) degree.
Upon graduating from dental school, Dr. Spencer returned to Boise and began practicing with Dr. Edwin Matthes. Dr. Matthes had limited his practice to the treatment of TMJ disorders some 15 years earlier, and acted as a mentor. Since 1998 Dr. Spencer has been able to accumulate over 1000 hours of continuing education specifically related to craniofacial pain, TMJ disorders and sleep disordered breathing. He has also completed the U.C.L.A. Acupuncture for Physicians training course and is a certified acupuncturist. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain and a current resident of the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine Craniofacial Pain post doctoral program. He also serves on the board of directors of the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain, is a Diplomate of the Board of Dental Sleep Medicine and a credentialed member of the Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine. Dr. Spencer teaches head and neck anatomy at Boise State University and teaches courses to dentists and physicians nationally and internationally.
Most importantly, Dr. Spencer is married to Jennifer Spencer and is the father of 5 beautiful children. They enjoy many activities as a family, but particularly enjoy snow skiing.
